Instructor Royce Hale is an urban homesteader and farmer with experience growing, canning, brewing and fermenting whatever he can get his hands on. Royce has a Master of Science in Biology Education and has been teaching in public schools for 12 years. When Royce has some free time he enjoys backpacking, fly fishing and mountain biking throughout the Rocky Mountains.

It’s still summer and you have so many cucumbers you don’t know what to do with all of them. Learn how to make delicious pickles using a traditional brining technique. This is a 2 hour hands on class.  Just bring yourself, everything is provided.

Making your own yogurt and cheese is easier than you might think. And, the health and financial benefits make it an easy choice. Learn how to make your own yogurt and cheese, save money and feed your family something delicious and nutritious.  This is a 2 hour hands on class.  Just bring yourself, everything is provided.


sourdough starter & baked goods - $40

Baking sourdough loaves is very rewarding, but first you need a sourdough starter and maintaining a sourdough starter means throwing away a lot of extra starter. Learn how to make your own starter and use the extra to make delicious crackers, biscuits and quick bread.   This is a 2 hour hands on class.  Just bring yourself, everything is provided.
